Straight Answers
Call (301) 297-2908 and you'll talk to someone who can tell, from a few questions, whether this is a five-minute fix on the phone or a job that needs a truck. If your door won't open, listen for the cable snap or the loud bang from a broken torsion spring - tell us which one, and we'll know what to load before we leave the shop.
Our shop is at 12800 Middlebrook Rd, Germantown, MD 20874. That's where parts come from and where the trucks start their day, not a storefront for walk-ins browsing doors. If you want to stop by to talk through a replacement, call first so someone's actually there.
After the call, we give you a window, not a guess. If the part on hand matches what's on your door, that's the whole job. If it's an odd-size panel or a spring wound for a door nobody makes that size of anymore, we'll say so on the phone instead of showing up and finding out together.
We don't do emergency overnight dispatch. If your door is stuck open and you're worried about the house, close what you can by hand and call first thing - we'll move you up the list, but we're not a 2 a.m. service.
The area
Where We Work
From the shop on Middlebrook Rd, Montgomery Village is three miles out and Clarksburg sits the same three miles in the other direction. Washington Grove is five miles. North Potomac and Darnestown are each six. Redland and Derwood run seven, Damascus and Travilah eight, and Poolesville rounds out that same eight-mile ring.
Farther out we still take calls in Olney, Aspen Hill, Urbana, Green Valley, North Bethesda, Monrovia, Garrett Park, North Kensington, Wheaton, Ashton-Sandy Spring, Adamstown, Kensington, Cabin John, Mount Airy, New Market, South Kensington, Cloverly, Lisbon, Spencerville, and Colesville - the ten-to-sixteen-mile band where a same-day slot gets tighter but isn't off the table.
Most of the houses we're called to across these 45 named communities went up between 1951 and 2015, with the typical build landing around 1984, and a good chunk of that stock dates to the 1980s and '90s wave. That matters for parts: an '80s-built door usually takes stock hardware, while anything from the earlier end of that range can mean a spring or track size that's not on the truck by default.
What we find
Work We Turn Down
We turn down jobs on doors where the opener's been spliced into a smart-home panel we can't get documentation for - we're not going to guess at wiring behind drywall. If a torsion spring is original to a house built in the early '50s and sized for hardware nobody stocks anymore, we'll tell you that on the first visit and talk replacement instead of pretending a repair will hold.
We also don't quote same-day work sight unseen past the eight-mile ring. Winters here fall in the severe end of the cold band, and a job that looks like a ten-minute roller swap can turn into a seized track once the steel's been sitting at single digits - we'd rather look at it than promise a time slot we can't keep.
And we don't do cosmetic-only requests on a door that's structurally done - if the panel's bent enough that the track's been fighting it for months, a fresh coat of paint isn't the honest answer, and we'll say that even if it's not what you called to hear.
Questions
Common questions
What's the fastest way to get someone out?
Call (301) 297-2908 and describe what the door is doing - stuck, off track, loud bang, dead opener. That lets us bring the right part the first trip instead of a second visit to diagnose it.
Do you have a storefront I can visit?
12800 Middlebrook Rd in Germantown is our shop, not a showroom for browsing doors. If you want to look at options in person, call ahead so someone's there to walk through it with you.
How far out do you go?
We run jobs from Montgomery Village and Clarksburg, three miles out, through towns like Mount Airy and Colesville in the ten-to-sixteen-mile range. Past that ring, same-day scheduling gets harder to promise.
My house is older - will parts even match?
Depends on the build year. A lot of the area's housing dates to 1951 through 2015, and older doors sometimes run hardware sizes that aren't standard stock anymore. We'll tell you on the first look if that's the case before quoting a repair.
